ELEXXXION ‘08: THE AFTERMATH
It might sound a little crazy, but I’m actually gonna miss the campaign season. I’m a big fan of some of the phrases that you can use when a campaign is going on. For instance, “It’s the Economy, Stupid” - it’s harder for me to use that so freely when we’re not in the middle of a race for office.
And I love to use that phrase.
It’s basically the only way I can really call people “stupid” and get away with it.
And I love calling people stupid.
At work I probably told my boss, “It’s the Economy….STUPID!” a hundred or so times a week. But he couldn’t fire me ‘cause I was just talking about politics!
Another one I loved was a line McCain used frequently: “Facts are stubborn things.” That’s a great one! Try using it in your own life when someone tries to pull something over on you or tells you something you know isn’t true. “Facts are stubborn things” shuts them right up! And it’s so much fun to say! Your roommate/girlfriend/boss/mom/subordinate will tire quickly of “Facts are stubborn things” said in a snide tone over and over and over…
So I cast my eyes to the future now. 2012. I’m hoping “It’s Healthcare ‘Ya Fucking Moron!” becomes nationally acceptable to use!
