Liberals are angry that the new HBO movie about the 2000 election recount places the “blame” on weak leadership by Al Gore’s top advisers. Warren Christopher, the public face of the Gore recount effort, has gone so far as to call the movie “pure fiction.”

It’s especially surprising since the film, “Recount” is an HBO project - this ain’t a Fox News hit piece, this is the network who’s moniker may as well stand for Hope Barack Obama…

So you knew HBO would delicately handle a project that covered such an important and historic event…and they didn’t disappoint. They got Danny Strong to write it.

Yeah - the Danny Strong. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock:

(From the NY Times:) “The film is Mr. Strong’s first produced screenplay. Also an actor who appeared for four seasons on ‘Gilmore Girls,’ Mr. Strong said he focused his book research on four works by reporters who covered the 36 days between the election and the Supreme Court decision that ended the recount.”

When you get a man, an actor - like Reagan, who’s time on the “Gilmore Girls” has created one of the most modern and sophisticated political minds imaginable to do his first script - and his vigorous research includes reading four books about the subject then you know you’ve got something special.

Fuck Warren Christopher - what can he say about politics or his role in the recount to someone at the level of a Danny Strong?
