NBC announced the premiere of a new late-night comedy show after the Winter Olympics:
THE TONIGHT SHOW with JAY LENO (and conan o’brien)
“In the spirit of the Olympic relay, we believe it’s best to have two hosts - passing the yuk-yuk baton to win the comedy gold!” beamed Jeff Zucker, president of NBC/Universal.
An NBC press release read as follows:
“Comedy Legend JAY LENO will come out and do the Classic TONIGHT SHOW monologue which has entertained America for generations, we’ll then be treated to a Classic JAYWALKING or HEADLINES! (We’ll then get a minute or two of a zany conan ‘comedy piece’ if time allows) Then JAY (and conan) will interview the hottest guests on the planet. JAY (and conan) - double the funny for the same amount of money!!!”
